Given that it's a topic of conversation at our house, I've also purchased an illustrated/graphic novel version for Charlie... we'll see how it is when it arrives!

Correction/Clarification: I bought THE HOBBIT.
DeleteOh Max, I've missed your postcards! Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteMax - where do you weigh in on the age old question: Which is better the book or the movie?
ReplyDeleteThey are equally good.
DeleteMax - I am a big Tolkien fan.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering how you would describe the characters of Frodo and his friends Sam, Merry, and Pippin?
Also, if they were to stop by Somerville during their journey = what would you make them for lunch?
or second breakfast? or elevensies?
DeleteNot to be cranky, but I didn't like The Lord of the Rings as much as I did other books like The Golden Compass and the Chronicles of Narnia. Partly it was because I missed having great female characters, and partly it was because they spent so much time walking from place to place!
ReplyDeleteBut I loved Kirsten's question about what to serve them for lunch. If they did stop, you'd have to stock up on groceries, as they like to eat seven meals a day--breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner and supper (thanks Google!). Do you think they'd go for Dave's Pasta?
